Building Hearts & Minds: Empathy in Action at Ysleta Elementary!

Our Ysleta Elementary students took a deep dive this week into understanding emotions during an engaging counselor-guided lesson on Empathy.

Using "The Empathy Formula" our students learned how simple, thoughtful actions can make a huge impact on our school community:

• 1. Listen: Pay close attention to what a friend is saying.

• 2. Notice: Look for clues in their face, body language, and words.

• 3. Think: Wonder how that person might be feeling.

• 4. Respond: Show that you truly care!

Teaching empathy isn't just about good manners—it’s a superpower that helps our students build stronger friendships, resolve conflicts peacefully, and create a warm, supportive environment where everyone feels valued. When our kids learn to step into someone else’s shoes, they grow into kinder, more connected leaders both inside and outside the classroom!
